NECon 2012 Chip Transfers

It is our policy to never transfer chips without a transaction ID provided for the account from which the chips will be transferred.
However, due to our efforts to document chip rewards from NECon 2012 we have allowed players to transfer chips from these events as long as we are able to verify the event and the account that was rewarded. This has been a special exception to the rules on Chip Transfers.
I would like to notify everyone now that ALL requests for transferring chips won during NECon 2012 must be made prior to January 31, 2012. After this date we will no longer honor ANY chip transfers that do not provide an appropriate transaction ID. For future events that award chips, please choose carefully the account on which you wish to receive your rewards in order to avoid the problem of a declined chip transfer request for which there is no transaction ID.

Forum Accounts

The more observant of you may have noticed the new section under account management here on the website for forum accounts.
Basically we'd like you to associate your forum account(s) with your game account. As explained on the page it's simple enough just enter your forum username / password and that's all it takes. Each forum account can only be paired up with one game account, but each game account can have as many forum accounts as you own.
I can't go into detail at this point why we're doing this, just in case things don't work out, plus we'd like some of them to be a surprise, but if things don't go according to plan and nothing comes of it then there's no big loss, but if things do work then everybody's got a headstart on taking care of this.

SMS gone, but not forgotten

The experiment of using SMS is complete and the service will not be returning. Let me give you a few reasons: Phone companies will only allow a user to charge 25-40 dollars a month via SMS, according to the providers. That is fine with me but the issue is not me, it is the players. The first night we had the SMS payments turned on we had 5 people complete $1 US which passed under the limits of the SMS providers. Lets assume that these get paid and we eventually get the funds. The 167 $1 US transactions netted the server $17 US. If for some reason the bill is charged back or not paid, we would owe $1670 US to the SMS company. I could go on about it but I think you can see the issue.
Unfortunately, SMS will not be back. Lesson learned!

New Donation Options

We have added a huge array of new Donation options to the site. Paypal, European Credit Cards and many other options. In all well over 100 different options to use. Google Checkout will remain our primary source for donations but the options will be used for 30 days and then evaluated and potentially adjusted as we see fit.
No chips are ever released until the donation is complete. If you use a system that take 3-5 days to clear then it will take that long to get chips. This is not a matter that is in our control. We do not see any of the actual card info nor have control of when it clears. Please be patient with this new system.

Uptime is good...

The server was taken down tonight to do some fixes. The core had been up for 2 days 3hrs and 33 minutes prior to that. Thanks to the devs for the great work in 2011 and lets make 2012 a great one. The uptime listed above is the current record for NE. Now we can finally deliver some of the donors items...
